Here in Scotland, the most important clothing in anyone’s wardrobe during the second half of the year is outerwear. It’s the item(s) you simply can’t leave your home without when it’s raining (again!) This lightweight parka from Bon Marche is a lovely, simple transitional piece, as the temperatures drop and we move into autumn. I love the uncomplicated design of this jacket, it’s practical and affordable at just £30.00 and I really like the bright citrus shade in particular. It features a quilted lining for extra warmth and a zip and popper fastening for added insulation. It also has functional pockets for keeping your essentials handy – masks/hand sanitiser etc. This stylish parka is finished with an adjustable waist channel, so you can nip it in for a flattering silhouette, and a concealed hood for coverage if you get caught out in unexpected showers (more than likely!) Style with everyday pieces like jeans/leggings/chunky trainers/light knits then head out and about! It’s a machine washable polyester/cotton mix, and length-wise it’s 70cm (27.5in) for a size 10, (add 1cm for each additional size up to size 24.) The Bon Marche product code is 012004, and remember Bon Marche, like the majority of Forge retailers atm, have seasonal sales with up to 50% off both in-store and online @ bonmarche.co.uk

You can get your hands on the latest menswear arrivals as they land at Peacocks in the Forge. It’s a great store to stock up on affordable wardrobe essentials – like hoodies, denim jeans and t-shirts, along with everyday workwear like formal shirts, trousers and suits. (Check out Peacock’s brand new male ‘Formal Wear’ range.) I really like this mens navy check Oxford Grandad collar shirt that’s just arrived in-store. This machine washable 100% cotton shirt is a pretty reasonable £14.00. Worn open with a white tee in summer, or under a Fred Perry style, casual jacket in autumn, it’s a versatile piece. Grandad collar shirts for men make a cool and classic addition to any wardrobe. Simple yet sophisticated, the smart stand collar adds a subtle twist to any look – it can easily be dressed up or down. The Peacock’s product code is 4702106-C03 and look out for more bargains in-store, there’s seasonal sales on selected product ranges that are well worth a look!

New in @ River island, I think this is just the perfect kid’s dress for autumn! The lace collar is a lovely detail that dresses up the denim so prettily, ditto the little sparkly buttons. This denim dress also features flattering tiered frills and frill cuff sleeves and is priced @ £25.00. It’s 50% cotton and 50% lyocell (cool iron and machine wash very gently at a max of 40°C.) Try teaming this super-stylish little dress with patent and velvet pieces/accessories. The product number is 492538 – shop this now as I’m sure this denim delight will prove very popular with budding fashionistas!

These wet-look leggings from What New York Wears @ the Forge look fantastic! They come in brown and black (pictured) and are a great way to add a bit of glam to your daywear wardrobe. They are priced @ £24.99 and there’s limited stock availability atm, so grab a pair while you can. What New York Wears state that the leggings are very comfy and stretchy, and also fit true to size, but I would always advise that you tried an item like this on in store if possible. (If you have any questions re. availability/sizing btw, just give this family-run shop a call on 0141 554 7778.) These leather-look leggings are also a great option for day to night dressing. You could team them with a pair of Uggs during the day on the school run, and then slip them on with a pair of heels at night. They are really versatile!

Find your fabulous with women’s clothing and accessories from high street giant Primark. Whether you’re looking to update your everyday staples – blue jeans and plain white tees will always be on trend – or glam up your wardrobe with some party dresses and sleek, chic pieces, there’s always an affordable option at Primark @ the Forge. Fashion is all about the details, so why not treat yourself, and update your footwear collection with a pair of these Ruched Vamp sandals? They’re available in this autumnal greyish/green, and also in black, and they’re priced at only £12.00 (the product code is 1880602/1880614) The low block heel and ankle strap makes them comfortable and very wearable, and they’re so inexpensive, you’ll hopefully have money left over for a fresh pedicure!
