Bon Marche – Gilet, £20.00

Keep cosy and stay stylish while you’re out and about in this classic gilet – which is available in 7 different colours! The timeless quilted design helps you stay warm, making for the ideal mid-layer between a long-sleeved top and a jacket. A golden zip and button detailing adds a little touch of decadance to this sleeveless design, which is cut close to the body for a flattering silhouette. A funnel neck and front pockets make this versatile padded piece both practical and extra cosy. If you’re shopping for a lady with classic tastes, this makes for a great buy.

River Island – Blue Frill Fitted Denim Jacket, £50.00

Every wardrobe should have a denim jacket – it’s a fashion staple. This particular fitted denim number from River Island has a nice feminine air to it, and the frill layers at the bottom are really flattering. Pop it over a summer tee, a thin autumnal polo neck, or a simple white shirt. It’s quite a dressy piece, but the fact that it’s denim makes it super wearable.

(Please note that the model in the picture is 5’9″ and wears a UK size 8.)

Quiz – Curve Navy Wrap Midi Dress, £32.99

If you’re heading out for Mother’s Day, this dress will suit a slightly more formal occasion. I really like the way the wrap style hugs the model’s curves (it’s got a bit of elastane in it) and the see-through mesh puff sleeve I just adore! The current popular trend for a transparent fabric over the arms means there’s no need to worry if you’d prefer to cover your arms a little, and I also like the fact that these sleeves mean there’s also no need for fake tan. I would team this with thin, sheer navy tights and maybe a suede navy pump. If you’re going to be wearing it in summer, a suede navy slingback could also work.

(Please note that the model in the picture is 5’8″ and wears a UK size 18.)

Asda – Black Mesh Polka Dot 2 in 1 Tiered Midi Dress, £22.00

I love this dress! It looks so cool and it’s basically only £20.00. Created in classic and wearable black and comprising of a mesh polka dot outer layer over a cami style underdress, this retro midi is perfect for the transitional days of the coming season. You can dress it up or down and the lightweight 3/4 length sleeve keeps gives it a breezy, vintage vibe. You could pair with boots, flats and sandals alike. The loose fit of this dress means you don’t have to be super-slim for it to flatter you – it’ll skim over any bits you want to hide. You won’t need to iron it either – it’s 100% Polyester. (Please note that the model in the picture is 5’7″ and wears a UK size 8.)

Peacocks – Black Lace Up Trainers, £12.00

Add these black lace up trainers to your everyday footwear collection, they are a really useful and stylish addition to any wardrobe. The snake effect side panel adds a little touch of glam and makes these trainers suitable for a more dressed up look too – try them with black skinny trousers, a white tee and a relaxed black blazer. Plus, with flats on, your mum will be able to move even faster!

Primark – Brown Ruffled Tiered Midi Dress, £15.00

This first thing that struck me about this dress is it’s eye-catching print. Florals for spring isn’t exactly groundbreaking fashion news – but I think the darker colours in this garment mean that you’ll be able to dig it out again come autumn. It’s still so cold in Scotland that bright colours don’t really feel seasonally appropriate yet – this leafy pattern is lovely though, and the dress’s shape is really wearable and flattering. The dipped hem is a nice detail too. I’d team it with a thin, dark belt, and a pair of chunky ankle boots. This is a real bargain.
